Cut and cover construction:

This construction is highly acceptable for low resources areas. These types of construction simply mean to cut the constructional part as required and the construction is begin as needed. After the construction is completed, backfill is filled.

If the constructional cost is low, cannot afford the tunneling machine like rock tunneling or road headers then this method is done. These constructions are economical and are relevantly faster than other methods; it has its own disadvantage, such construction cannot be done in any particular area but it must be flat terrain to be done. Such construction is not done for long distance area but for the depth of construction area.

Cut and cover method is the oldest method; different pyramid with underground chambers are also built by this method, that shows it is one of the traditional method of underground construction. For cut and cover method; construction is done below the ground surface almost about 10 – 15 meter which is more practicable.
